Last year was a dream season. I never expected to see the Iowa Hawkeyes in a Big Ten Championship game, let alone a Rose Bowl appearance! There weren’t a lot of expectations heading into the season, but after the way they played last year I think people are excited about the 2016 campaign. We will see how these kids perform with a little bit of additional pressure on them.
Here is the schedule for the 2016 season. I hope to see you at ALL 7 of this year’s home games!
|Sep 3||Miami (OH)||Iowa City, IA|
|Sep 10||Iowa State||Iowa City, IA|
|Sep 17||North Dakota State||Iowa City, IA|
|Sep 24||Rutgers||Piscataway, NJ|
|Oct 1||Northwestern||Iowa City, IA|
|Oct 8||Minnesota||Minneapolis, MN|
|Oct 15||Purdue||West Lafayette, IN|
|Oct 22||Wisconsin||Iowa City, IA|
|Nov 5||Penn State||University Park, PA|
|Nov 12||Michigan||Iowa City, IA|
|Nov 19||Illinois||Champaign, IL|
|Nov 25||Nebraska||Iowa City, IA|
I like how the schedule sets up again this year. Once again we miss Ohio State and Michigan State in the regular season. We do add Michigan to the schedule this year, but at least we get to play the Wolverines at home.
I’m thinking we have a real shot at running the table again. The easy opponents are all on the road, while we get Wisconsin, Michigan, and Nebraska in Kinnick. I know last year was the first year that when the schedule set up easy we played our best football, but if Kirk and company can get the boys to perform again this year I like our team’s chances of winning the West and making another trip to Indianapolis!
